Where would I find information about the proper geometry for a cat-1 implement? I am working on a home-built design and I would like to get the geometry correct (rather than the measure and guess method).

There are allot of variations of the 3 point geometry. Some are downsized to fit sub-compacts, then JD has the iMatch design and others are stretched to fit normal category I machines. Also available is a heavy duty category I that also links up to category II. My picture 8 shows a pulverizer with a heavy duty category I that also accepts category II. There are also several ways to make brackets by bending sheet metal or using strap material. Suggest you look at and measure similar implements at local dealers which not only will give you size dimensions but also design and fabrication concepts. ....

I just built a weight box for my BX and I went through the same thing you are trying to figure.
I found that you need to put the top pin hole in line vertically with the bottom pins, and 15" above. This makes my weight box go up vertically like it should.

Jarndt, Before you cut any metal, I wanted to be sure you notice that I edited my post. The distance vertically between pins is 15", not 12. I see you have a BX1500, so do I. One thing though, I have shortened my top link by 2". I don't know if this will make yours different or not.

You need to match Cat O with catagory 1 pins. Cat O was used and still is on many of the Super series or large frame garden tractors that have been built. The catagory one pin and heavier frame they are using on many attachemnts for the sub compacts is what makes it a near perfect hook up. There are several web sites that offer the actual measurements but I don't have them available right now although they were not to hard to find. I might suggest a look in a dealers yard for a Turkey day ride to just compare with a tape measure. ....
